FAU ACI
Peer Mentors
Each student at the Academy has a peer mentor. The peer mentors are degree seeking students that are taking classes on the FAU Jupiter campus. Peer mentors help students navigate college life as well as help with all questions students may have about FAU. Some of the activities peer mentors do are:
- attend clubs, sporting events, organizations, and campus events with ACI students
- help students with coursework
- go to the dining hall together
- hang out on campus
Job Coaches
Each student is to fulfill their job experience requirements throughout the program in order to successfully obtain the supported employment certificate. ACI students have job coaches to support them while completing their job experience requirements. These work sites start on campus and expand to off campus sites once the student has developed proper employability skills. Some of the tasks of the job coaches are:
-on the job training with students
-reporting progress with staff and students
-assist students in becoming independent at work
-assist students in communicating with supervisors and co-workers
-develop job site goals with students
-attend student's planning meetings
Advisors
ACI students are assigned an advisor once they are admitted to the program. Their advisor helps students choose their coursework and certificate track. Students meet with their advisors each semester before registering for new classes. Advisors also attend the student's planning meetings as well as help students with questions they may have related to FAU. Some questions to ask your advisor:
-What courses should I take next semester?
-If I need an accomodation for class, who should I ask?
-I am having trouble with some projects in a course, how can I get help?
-My professor told me I am failing their course, what should I do ?
